Sadly, it wasn’t to be the dream European Championship for Gio and Duke of Champions.
The pair put in a solid dressage test for 32.8, and completed the influential cross-country phase – but did incur both a flag penalty and a mim clip penalty.
Unfortunately the decision was taken not to present Duke of Champions at the final horse inspection, and Gio’s championship was over.
