A great new event at Rockingham

We had a good weekend at Rockingham Castle. We took five horses to between us; I had Bruvver in the one star who did 54.4 dressage test which I was happy with. I felt that he had improved from last year when he last did a one star test. He then had two down show jumping which I was also happy with as it was an improvement from Aston. He jumped a clear cross country round inside the time, so I was happy with how he felt at this event. We are improving!!!!

Kathryn had her two six year olds in the one star. Cooley Eclipse did a lovely dressage test, scoring 45, and then had an unlucky pole down in the show jumping. The cross country didn’t go to plan as she was trying a new bit, and did not have much steering. She will have to do some homework with him and his bit!!

Billy the Red did a very good dressage, scoring 42, and then jumped double clear inside the time to finish 4th! Kathryn was very happy with him as it was his first one star in a very competitive field, and he is only six.

I also had Cult Rewind and Platoon de Lhocre in the two star. Cult Rewind was a little tense in the dressage but settled towards the end, scoring a 49.9. He then had an unlucky pole down in the show jumping but I was really happy with how he jumped – and he jumped clear inside the time cross country. So I’m really happy with how he felt and just need to work on our dressage.

Loon was a little resistant in his dressage, scoring 57 which I felt was a little harsh as there was some good work in his test. He went on to jump a fab double clear inside the time. I’m very excited with how he felt jumping, and think we now have a great partnership, just need to improve our dressage!!!!

I also want to thank Rockingham for putting on a great event. A lot of work had been done to the ground to make sure it was in top condition! We will make sure we go back next year!!!!
