At Osberton last weekend I was riding Loon in the CCI** and Kathryn was riding her two young boys, Red and Cooley, in the 6yr old class.
Loon was amazing, even if the judges didn’t love him in the dressage – they scored him a 56. He was a machine cross country, jumping a lovely clear inside the time and making it feel easy. In the show jumping on Sunday he was rideable and careful and jumped a nice clear round to finish on his dressage score, just outside the ribbons. I’m really happy how he went and I’m really looking forward to stepping up to advanced with him next year.
Kathryn was 10th with Billy the Red with a really nice dressage test to score a 45, a really unlucky rail in the show jumping and a clear inside the time cross country. Red felt amazing all week and we are looking forward to aiming him for the 7yr old Championship at Le Lion d’Angers next year.
Cooley was outstanding in the dressage, scoring a 42, but was not himself in the show jumping. He had a couple of rails down and we decided not to run him cross country and save him for another day. We still have really high hopes for him next year.
Then we had a quick turn around and on Monday went off to Little Downham for the Advanced with Let it Bee. He couldn’t have a better last run before the 4**** in Pau. He was nice and calm in the dressage arena to score a 29, which put him in 2nd place, then he rolled a pole in the show jumping and jumped a steady clear cross country to finish 7th.
