Giovanni reports from his first event of the season:

Tiko: I was very happy with him in the dressage, our winter training had obviously paid off as he got a good 29. He show jumped very well but as the ground was a little sticky he struggled a bit to push off the floor, which made it hard for him to cover the oxers back rail. Cross country I tried a new bit for the control and direction – good news, I (hopefully) have found the right one as he felt great.

Oplitas: Dressage he was quite fresh and this showed in his walk… unfortunately there was a lot of walk in the test! The rest of his test was good and there were many positive points to take away, but also a lot to work on for me to do.  He show jumped very well but again, as with Tiko, the ground was sticky and he struggled to push off the floor, which made it hard for him to cover the oxers back rail. Cross country is his strongest phase and he felt great. I still have so much to learn with him but I really feel that our partnership is going in the right direction, and I am looking forward to the future!!!
